🌸オンプレーネール En Plein Air Art Club🌸

In French, en plein air means “in the open air” and refers to the practice of painting outdoors.
In mid-19th century France, working in natural light became particularly important for the Barbizon school and later, the Impressionists. In Japan, artists like Kuroda Seiki and Kume Keiichiro, who had returned from studying in France, formed the Hakuba-kai (White Horse Society) in 1896.
They came to be known as the “Gaikō-ha” or “Outer Light School,” which blended Impressionism with academic painting. They used outdoor painting to create sensory expressions full of bright light. This artistic movement has been passed down and continues to this day.
To carry this artistic movement into the future, our NPO has formed the En Plein Air Art Club. We hope to capture the changing seasons with you. Won’t you join us on an artistic outing and enjoy painting en plein air? We look forward to your participation.
